Browns Plains Chapel (former Common School No 821) built in 1866 is locally significant historically as a rare example of a former Common School leased, but never owned by the Education Department surviving apparently intact. Its plan dimensions are unique and its porch location a rare example of Board standard no 11. Its use of granite is also rare and a significant use of a local material. AHC CITATION Old School House is a stone school erected in 1871 as the South Muckleford State School No 1124. Rectangular in plan the structure is constructed in random course masonry with brick quoins, window and door surrounds. There is a gabled porch non-axially located.
